One of the region’s top functions facilities has increased its turnover for the third successive year.

During the last financial year, the Wynyard Rooms, located at Wynyard Park, attracted corporate clients from as far away as Southampton and regular visitors from all over the North East.

As a result, the venue saw an increase in takings compared to the previous year which also was a record breaker.

Manager Jeff Hind said there had been a seven percent increase in turnover and a 13pc increase in profit.

“It’s quite amazing, given the poor economic climate,” commented Jeff. “But serves to confirm that we are the Tees Valley’s premier conferencing and events centre.”

The Wynyard Rooms offers a variety of room sizes, from two-person meeting and interview rooms to the prestigious conference hall seating up to 300- as well as the use of up to the minute audio visual and technical equipment and high-quality catering from the on-site bistro, making it an ideal venue for all manner of events, including formal dinners and social events as well as corporate functions.

The Mayor of Stockton’s Charity Ball is regularly held at The Wynyard Rooms. After the 2010 event in January the delighted Mayor, His Worshipful the Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees, Councillor Paul Kirton said: “Mary and I enjoyed our special evening from beginning to end. I would like to express my special thanks to the Wynyard Rooms.”

The venue’s regular Sportsman’s Dinners have become ‘must go’ events. The most recent, with Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock as guest speaker, had a waiting list of fans desperate for a ticket. All have helped to raise hundreds of pounds for local charities.

Now, the Wynyard Rooms aims to build on its success by taking its top food and service out into the community through its newly-launched outside catering and events business.

Jeff Hind added: “Our catering services are now so popular that we decided to take them beyond our base at Wynyard Park and it’s proving to be a big hit with pleasing levels of demand since we launched.”
