Sustainability

We have made an assessment of the energy management issues in relation to the design and layout of the proposed revised Master plan at Wynyard the first phase of which will include executive housing. We have commissioned a report by our engineers with consultative input from Hartlepool College of Further Education and NAREC (National Renewable Energy Centre) and overseen by our planning advisors.

The full report advises on technologies currently available in the market and that could be accommodated in the development to minimise CO2 emission, either by design of the buildings to reduce energy use, or in the generation of energy, over the whole life of the development and the construction phases.

It is intended that the development will meet high standards of sustainability and will meet minimum compliance with Building Control standards at the point of delivery, recognising that time and innovation will result in the potential for more solutions to deal with the key issues of climate change.

We have taken full cognisance of the broad environmental concerns with regard to climate change, pollution, impact of the design on residents and the wider community. In essence it balances these with the need for a high quality, safe and healthy internal environment.
