Tripping the light fantastic at Wynyard Park
Workers on a Teesside business park have been quick-stepping their way to after-work dance classes, held at the premises of one of the site’s tenants.
Since then, staff from other firms and organisations based there have been delaying their journey home so that they can take lessons in Ballroom and Latin dancing as well as the increasingly popular ‘Wedding – First Dances’ classes.
Teacher Joy Feary of Body 2 Fit says her classes in the Evolution complex at Wynyard Park attract lots of students onto the site as well as those already working there.
“It’s so easily accessible, being just off the A19, so it’s a really good location at which to run dance sessions,” she explained.
“Although numbers are limited because the studio is only small, it does mean we can create a good social atmosphere. The classes are fun and many new friendships have been formed as a result!”
Joy currently runs Ballroom and Latin classes on a Wednesday evening and a second Latin one on a Thursday, together with several private First Dance lessons for couples keen to ensure their married life gets off to a smooth start when they take to the dance floor at their wedding reception.
A Beginners ballroom class is also planned for the New Year.
Said Joy: “’Strictly’ has really helped raise the profile of dancing, especially in killing the myth that it is not purely a female past time.
“I am confident that the variety of classes we offer and the number of students we have will continue to increase – and that the Business Bolero and the Wynyard Waltz will become popular all over Teesside, not just at Wynyard Park!”
Matt Johnson, Wynyard Park’s Development Manager commented: “Body 2 Fit provides a fantastic range of activities that is open to all tenants to join in with. There can’t be many business parks that can list ballroom classes in the range of services available on their sites!”
